Welcome to the memorial page for

Davada Rager

February 27, 1956 ~ May 28, 2016 (age 60) 60 Years Old

After a long and courageous 14 year battle with cancer, fought with such incredible strength, faith, and determination, Davada was ushered into the arms of her beloved Savior, with her adoring family by her side, on Saturday, May 28 at 4:00 pm at the VNA Hospice Center, in Butler, where she resided for the last four days.  Davada was born at Bashline Hospital in Grove City, PA on February 27, 1956 to David & Eunice (Swafford) Hanna. A 1974 graduate of Franklin Area High School, and Oil City Vo-Tech, Davada is also an ordained and licensed minister, graduating from Full Gospel Bible Institute May, 1994.  Davada married Daniel J Rager on November 22, 1974 at the Leesburgh Church of God of Prophecy.  Davada was a gifted songwriter, anointed teacher, angelic singer, and powerful worshiper, appearing on several local radio and TV stations. In addition she is the author of two books, “The Fine Art of Armor Bearing”, and “ Behind Every Shadow”, that tell of God's sustaining power as she walked with her son through his cancer journey, and shortly thereafter her own cancer diagnosis. The book testifies how peace, joy, and laughter surrounded her, instead of terror and chaos. She was in the process of writing her 3rd book about speaking the Word of God over every circumstance in your life, and not giving into fears when facing difficult circumstances. Davada had an incredible love for the Word of God, and would spend hours listening to sermons and healing messages to build herself in the faith, as her health battle raged. She was in the house of God every time the doors were opened, until her health declined and she was unable; then she listened to her churches messages on-line through periscope.  Davada loved everyone she met, and her circle of influence was endless. She was a mighty prayer warrior, and always took the time to visit with, pray for, and minister to those in need. At her lowest and weakest points, when cancer ravished her body, she would reach out to others, to pray for their needs, offering encouragement and words of comfort for their circumstances. Davada rarely spoke of her own illness; many people were unaware of the battles she was going through, because her focus was on others, and not permitting emotions and fears about her diagnosis to rule her.  When her children were younger, Davada was an in-home hospice worker, providing tender love and compassion to make her clients last days as comfortable as possible. She later was employed by USIS in Boyers, PA, until ill health forced her to leave. After going into remission she became employed at Trinity Living Center in Grove City, PA as a concierge, until December, 2015, when the cancer returned again. She loved working with the residents and brightened the life of everyone she came in contact with.  Davada is survived by her husband of 42 years, who lovingly never left his beloved “Vads” side for the past 11 days of her life. She is also survived by two daughters, Malysa (Brian) Yard of Slippery Rock, and BreInne Rager at home. With such tender loving care, BreInne cared for her momma in their home until she was no longer able to, due to her declining health. Two sons survive, Christopher Rager Baker from Erie, and Nicholas Rager from Slippery Rock. Davada is survived by four grandchildren, Isaac and Jeremiah Yard, and Katie and Allsion Baker, and grandson, Kaleb Yard who is due to be born in September, whom Davada was so excited to meet. Davada is also survived by her mother, Eunice Hanna of Harrisville; sisters, Lazelle Flynn of Kennerdell, Shelby (Richard) Rodgers of Clintonville, Suvan (Keith) Hiner of East Brady, and a brother, Kenton Hanna of Harrisville.  Elder Davada is also survived by her loving church family from New and Living Way Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ, located in Farrell, PA, and Shiloh Intrusion Ministries. They were her front-line warriors, providing incredible support and encouragement, and she dearly loved each of them. Elder Davada sat under the leadership of Bishop Alvin McCoy & Elder Lisa McCoy, where she learned how to speak to her body and command it to line up with the Word of God, which extended her life for many years.  Davada was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Claire Baker in 2000, a brother, Neal L Hanna in 2000, her father, David L Hanna in 2007, and her mother in-law, Eleanor Rager.  Friends and family will be received at the Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home at 109 Emlenton St, Clintonville, on Wednesday, June 1 from 2-6 pm. Funeral services will be held at 6 pm in the funeral home with Bishop Alvin McCoy officiating. The family asks that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to help defray the funeral cost.  Davada is rejoicing with the angels in heaven; no more pain, cancer free, healed in the way only God can do. She fought the good fight, she bravely finished the course, and she kept the faith. Well done, thy good and faithful servant, enter thou into the joy of the Lord!  To view and share photos or leave an online condolence please visit our website at www.mckinleyfuneralhome.net.
