Richard  D. Ferguson, 92, of Barkeyville passed away November 8, 2016 at Butler Hospital.

Dick was born March 11, 1924 in Argentine Pa, he was the son of Harold C. Ferguson and Amanda Funkhouser Ferguson.

Dick graduated from Concord High School before enlisting in Army.  Dick served in WWII, he was a heavy machine gunner.  His duties included loading, aiming, cleaning, maintaining and firing 50 caliber heavy machine guns in defense against enemy aircrafts.   Dick was a proud veteran, during his service he received the American Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Medal and European African  Middle Eastern Campaign Medal.

Dick married his wife Leatrice Clyde upon returning home from war on July 10, 1946, she survives.   Dick and Leatrice enjoyed 70 years of marriage. 

Dick was a retired truck driver from Daniels Transfer Company in Franklin. 

Dick enjoyed the outdoors.  You could find Dick outside in his yard always keeping busy in his gardens and keeping up on the mowing.  He loved to go fishing and made many trips to Michigan to fish.  He looked forward to deer season every year and getting into the woods with his family.

Dick is survived by his wife Leatrice of Barkeyville, his children Deborah Ferguson of Butler and his son Richard L. Ferguson and his wife Jane of Barkeyville.   His grandchildren Richard E. Ferguson and his wife Melissa of Barkeyville and Diana Wheeler and her husband Kevin of Alaska.  His great grandchildren Richard L. Ferguson, Gabriel and Seamus Wheeler.  A sister Lillian Brown of Butler

Dick is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Anna Graham and his brothers Robert and Burton Ferguson  and  Keith Ferguson who passed away in infancy.  

Family will receive friends at the Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home, 109 Emlenton Street, Clintonville PA on Thursday, November 10, 2016 from 6-8 , funeral service will take at the funeral home at 1:00 pm with the Rev. Kenneth Hughes officiating from Barkeyville Methodist Church on Friday, November 11, 2016.

Interment will take place at Greenlawn Cemetery in Butler PA.
