Bettie Smith Obituary

Bettie S. Smith, 61, of Slippery Rock passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at home of natural causes on March 11, 2019

Bettie was born in Meadville on June 25, 1957, she was the daughter of the late William and Martha Beard Smith Schleifer.

Bettie graduated from Franklin High School.  Bettie was a true caregiver.  She retired from Polk Center as a resident aide.  She had a special place in her heart for the elderly and people with special need, especially her niece Heather.  She loved  all her nieces and nephews dearly.  In her spare time Bettie did needlepoint and enjoyed a good book.

Loved ones left to cherish her memory is her sister Nancy Klingensmith  and her husband Richard of Slippery Rock; her step brothers and sisters Chris Schleifer of Ohio, John Schleifer and his wife Jeanne of Florida, Robert Schleifer and his wife Darlene of Polk, Mike Schleifer and his wife Faith of Polk, Mary Madalyn of Pittsburgh and Paula Potter and her husband Bruce of Grove City.  Her nieces and nephews Heather Klingensmith of Slippery Rock, Joe Coursen and his fiancé Jessie Smith of Clintonville, Cindy Knox and her husband Rick of Polk and Wendy Crissman and her husband Josh of Clintonville.  Her great nieces and nephews Kylie & Loren Knox of Polk, Gage & Caleb Crissman of Clintonville and Trinity Coursen of Clintonville. 

Preceded in death by her father, mother and step father Robert Schleifer, her brother Clyde Linn Smith  and her sister Molly Ann Smith Coursen Attinger.  

A memorial service will take place at a later date.  The Jamison-McKinley Funeral Home, Harrisville PA is handling the arrangements.
