Donna Drake Obituary

Donna G. Drake, 84, of Clintonville, one of the most loved and lovely women was called home to be on the God’s team of angels surrounded by her family who loved her more than anybody on December 15, 2019 at home.

Donna was born August 10, 1935 in Emlenton, she was the daughter of Delbert L. and Mary Reddick Rankin.

Donna attended Harmony Grove School.  She married Stanley Drake on March 14, 1958; the couple celebrated 61 years of marriage.

Donna was a true homemaker.  She took pride in raising her children and helping with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She went to as many of their activities as she could.  For many years Stanley and Donna had horses and would take any stray animals that needed a home.  Donna’s smile was very contagious.   She kept busy in the summer mowing and keeping her flowers looking beautiful.  Donna was a true asset to her community.  She was a past member of the CVFD Auxiliary.  Donna was a member of the Clintonville Playground Committee and was instrumental with providing a monetary donation from one of her birthday parties towards a new roof for the pavilion at the Clintonville Park where she loved to have her birthday parties and family reunions.    She sold Tupperware for many years and enjoyed visiting with her customers.  Donna was the rock and glue of the Drake Family, not an easy task but she did it with so much love.  She loved them so much but also loved everyone else’s children and always had treats when any of them came to visit.  You were not a visitor to Donna, you were family.  She was the “neighbor mom” to so many.

Loved ones left to cherish Donna’s memory is her husband Stanley of Clintonville.  Her children Wanda Gladd and her husband Steve of Clintonville, Gloria Griffin and her husband Bill of Clintonville, Bill Drake and his wife Rhonda “Chip” of Emlenton, Donna Marie Snyder and her husband Randy of Eau Claire, Terri Hempel and her husband Chuck of Emlenton.   Her brother Donald Rankin of Grove City.  Donna’s grandchildren Eric Gladd and his girlfriend Katie Morrow of New Wilmington, Jeremy Gladd and his wife Ashley of Clintonville, Josh Griffin and his wife Tameika of Grove City, Aleah Wilson and her husband Ryan of MayPort, Ashley Drake of Emlenton, Tyler Drake of Emlenton, Lindsey Drake Deacon and husband Marlin of Maryland, Kain Drake of Emlenton, Dawn Marshall and her husband Brett of Maryland, Holly Hempel and her husband Phil of Georgia,  Donna’s great grandchildren Jasetin, Tenley, Hannah, Madison, Natalie, Gage, Lochlyn, Maia, Kadin, Taylor, Lakin, Blake, Brady, Halle, Cruz and Ashton. Donna’s beloved dog Tank and her beloved cat Bear-Bear round out her family.

Donna was welcomed into heaven by her parents, her brother Paul Rankin and his wife Peg and her sister in law Nancy Rankin.
