James "Jim" R. Carr, 92, of Kennerdell passed away peacefully at home October 22, 2018.
Jim was born November 23, 1926 in Cleveland Ohio, he was the son of Joseph R. and Sarah E. Russell Carr.
Jim married Helen Mayes on September 12, 1952 at the Grace United Methodist Church in Clintonville. The couple celebrated 66 years of marriage. Together Jim and Helen had four children Margaret, Joseph, Robert and Linda.
Jim retired from C & K Coal as a heavy equipment operator. After his retirement Jim worked for many years for Hovis Auto Supply as a mechanic and truck driver. Jim was known for his ability to work on just about anything. Locally Jim helped many with his knowledge on tractors, antique cars and anything with a motor. Jim was antique car enthusiast, in the summer you could often see Jim and Helen traveling in Jims 1937 Oldsmobile. Jim's love of old cars kept him active in the Antique Oldsmobile Club of America and PA and National Antique Automobile Club of America. Jim was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church is Clintonville. Jim was proud member and sponsor of the NRA, he was a strong believer in the freedoms they protected.
Jim was a United States veteran from World War II proudly serving in the Army. He was in the Blackhawk 86th Infantry Division.
Jim was a member of the F&AM #552, Oil City Lodge of Perfection and the New Castle Consistory.
Loved ones left to cherish his memory is his wife Helen Carr of Kennerdell, his children Margaret E. Bonetti and her husband Jim of Boyers, Robert Carr and his wife Sally of Franklin, Joseph Carr and his wife Lois of Franklin. Many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren also complete the Carr Family. Jim's brother also survives Richard L. Carr and his wife Barbara of Ohio and Jim 's sister Barbara E. Popvich and her husband Albert of Ohio.
Jim was welcomed into heaven by his parents and his daughter Linda S. Carr Sharp also a brother William F. Carr and his wife Barbara.
Family will receive friends at the Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home, 109 Emlenton Street, Clintonville on Friday, October 26, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8. Funeral services will take place at the funeral home on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 1:00 pm with the Rev. Denise Maines officiating from the Grace United Methodist Church.
The family suggest in lieu of flowers memorial donations be sent to the Grace United Methodist Church, 209 Franklin Street, Clintonville PA 16372.
