James A. "Buck" Adams

James A. "Buck" Adams Sr, 81,of Mercer, passed away June 1, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family. 

Buck was born August 27, 1937 in Mercer, he was the son of the late George A. and Marie Brown Adams.

Buck attended Mercer Public Schools.  He retired in 1999 after 47 years, from Reznor Heating Company as a Assembler. 

Buck was first married to Ruth Jane Christy, he then married Janie Shellhammer on March 11, 1995.  Janie passed away March 8, 2003.

Buck was a former member of Moose Lodge #276.  He also was a life member of the East End Fire Company in Mercer PA.  He called bingo for many years at the fire station.  Buck enjoyed gardening and working in his yard.  Buck was a gentle compassionate man that put others before himself.  His family and friends were the most important things in his life. 

Loved ones left to cherish his memory are his children; James  Adams Jr. and his wife Patricia, St. Mary, Ga.; Ed Adams and his wife Donna, Grove City; Sue  Adams of Peters Creek Alaska; and Paul  Adams, Grove City.  His step children; Janie Whetzel and husband Jeff of Pearl, John Shellhammer and his wife Christina of Nectarine; James Shellhammer and his husband Greg, Palm Springs CA.; and Jody Shellhammer of Sharon.  His sister Diana Redman and her husband Jack of Mercer.  His grandchildren Michelle, Renae, Alicia, Paula, Laura, Lynn, Paul Jr., Yvonne, Sue, Jason, Danny, TJ, Jessica, Matt, Samantha, Steven, Brian, Hannah & Eddie, 26 great grandchildren and one on the way, and one great great grandson.   His special neighbors Jerry & Hale who kept an eye out for him.  

In addition to his parents and wife Janie, Buck is proceeded in death by twin infant sisters Janet and Joyce; and a brother John S. Adams.

Family will receive friends at the Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home, 109 Emlenton Street, Clintonville PA  on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8.  Funeral services will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at 11:00 am with the Rev. Kenneth Hughes officiating. 

The family suggest memorial donations be sent in Buck's honor to East End Fire Department, 104 Wilson Ave, Mercer PA 16137.
