C. Edward Tanner, 79 of Clintonville, passed away peacefully, March 30, 2025 surrounded by his loving family at his daughter home.
Ed was born September 26, 1945 in New Brighton PA. He was the son of the late Carl and Dorthy (Coeney) Tanner.
Ed graduated from New Brighton High School and attended Genevive College for accounting.
He married the love of his life Rita Werner on October 14, 1967. The couple celebrated 45 years of marriage prior to Rita’s passing in 2013. Ed and Rita will always be remembered walking to church hand and hand on Sundays in Clintonville. Ed’s love for Rita lasted long after her passing and he looked forward to the day he would be with her again.
Ed was a local truck driver for many years for Witherup Fabrication in Kennerdell. Ed also worked for Hunters Truck Sales in Eau Claire shuffling trucks from dealership to dealership.
Ed enjoyed life and the people in it! He cherished his family and looked forward to when they where all together. His girlfriend, Barbara Goldstrom, will treasure the memories they made doing the many outings they did together. Ed filled the room with this laughter and even more so when him and his buddies got together, those memories will be treasured. He loved the Lord and his church family in Kennerdell at the Church of God. Ed’s larger than life presence will be missed by so many who loved him.
Ed is survived by his children Kenneth A. Tanner and his wife Roxanne of West Sunbury and his daughter Jennifer L. Sorger and her husband Richard of Cambridge Springs. Four Grandchildren Caleb E. and Samantha I. Tanner and Nathan A. (Nicole) Sorger and Grace E. Sorger. Ed’s brother George (Shirley) Tanner also survives.
Ed was welcomed into heaven by his parents, wife and his sister Carol J. Coblentz.
