Dixie Eileen (Rihel) McKnight, 61, of Boyers passed away Wednesday at the Grove City Medical Center after an extended illness.
She was born Feb. 21, 1952, in Grove City Hospital. She was the daughter of Paul M. Rihel and Hazel (Miller) Rihel.
Dixie graduated from Moniteau High School in 1970.
Dixie was married to Ralph "Ed" McKnight on Nov. 25, 1972, and he passed away Oct. 26, 2013.
She worked at the United Community Hospital, now the Grove City Medical Center, for 30 years as a secretary in the ER, ICU and transitional care units.
She was a member of the Boyers United Methodist Church and a social member of the Marion Township Volunteer Fire Department.
Dixie is survived by one daughter, Mindy McKnight of Boyers; two sons, Adam and Ryan McKnight of Boyers; one brother, James Rihel of Hillards; one sister, Ann Newburn and her husband, Gene, of Eau Claire; one brother-in-law, Robert McKnight and his wife, Erma, of Grove City; two nephews, Jon Rihel of Eau Claire and James McKnight of Grove City; one niece, Kristy Rihel Martino of Boyers; and several great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a nephew, Nathan Newburn.
MCKNIGHT - The family of Dixie Eileen (Rihel) McKnight, who died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, will receive friends at the Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home, 109 Emlenton St., Clintonville, on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral service will take place at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Kate Reitz officiating from the Eau Claire, Hilliard and Boyers United Methodist Church and the Rev. Willard Morse, retired Methodist minister.
Interment will take place at the Old Annandale Cemetery, Marion Township, Butler County.
The family suggests memorial donations be sent to the Marion Township Volunteer Fire Department, P. O. Box 136, Boyers, PA 16020.
