Elizabeth L. "Betty" Wike, 93, of the Trinity Living Center, Grove City, passed away Saturday.
Born on Dec. 15, 1921, in West Sunbury, she was the daughter of the late John H. Pensy and Mary A. Vedrich Pensy.
Betty graduated from West Sunbury Vocational School in 1940. She attended all the alumni gatherings.
She married Wilmer S. Wike on Oct. 19, 1940, and he passed away on May 1, 1992.
Betty was a devoted housewife and mother. She sat on the Irwin Township Election Board for 37 years. Betty is listed in the Voters Hall of Fame for Venango County.
She enjoyed her garden and her flower beds.
She was a member of the Wesley Methodist Church, formerly Pleasantview Methodist Church. Betty loved to be surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren and her great-great-grandson. She was a member of AARP.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth L. Matthews and her husband, Gaylord, of Harrisville; her son, Fredrick B. Wike and his wife, Linda, of Harrisville; her daughter-in-law, Gerry Wike of Polk; her sister, Nancy Osterling of Butler; her grandchildren, Brandy Ripley and her husband, Mike, Brad Matthews, Brett Matthews and Crystal, Shannon Matthews, Stacey Glenn and her husband, Tom, Kelly Sires and her husband, Chad, Courtney Wike and her husband, Dave Livsey, Tracey Holler and her husband, Stuarts, Fred Wike, Wesley Wike and Taylor, Lindsey Wike, Jessica George and her husband, Clark, and April Wyman and her husband, Jason; her great-grandchildren, Michaela, Michenzie and Matthew Ripley, Reagan and Wyatt Wike, Kyleigh, Cody, Conner, Kelsie and Katelyn George, and Sydnie Wyman; and her great-great-grandson, Bentley
In addition to her parents and her husband, Betty was preceded in death by her two sons, W. Edward Wike, who passed away on Oct. 8, 2006, and Jeffrey A. Wike, who passed away on Jan. 17, 2010; her grandson, Brian G. Matthews, who passed away on Aug. 19, 2000; her sister, Louise Armen; and her brothers, John, Joseph, Frank, Bill Rudy and Louis Pensy.
Wike - The family of Elizabeth L. "Betty" Wike, who passed away Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014, will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home, 109 Emlenton St., Clintonville.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Hanky officiating. Interment will take place at Crestview Memorial Gardens.
