Emily R. Rumbaugh, 86, of Butler formerly of Nectarine, passed away January 1, 2025 at Advanced Care Center of Butler.
Emily was born November 27, 1938 in Butler. She was the daughter of the late Robert S. and Ida H. (Marchinoski) Codispot.
Emily graduated from Butler Area High School in 1956. She was married to Ronald “Walt” Rumbaugh on July 31, 1977. Walt passed away April 22, 2016.
At a very young age, Emily worked at Willard Hotel and Elks Club in Butler. Emily had worked at Montgomery Wards and A.E. Troutman for many years as an office worker.
Emily attended the St. Michael Archangel Church in Butler earlier in life. Her favorite pastime was her accordion. She learned to play it at a young age and was proud of that accomplishment. Emily and her sister Dolly, who played the piano, entertained the family at gatherings especially playing for their parents “Polka-oldies.”
Loved ones to cherish Emily’s memory is her sister Barbara Stanko of Butler, her son Douglas E. Bonzer of Ohio, her step children Debra F. Bonzer of Ohio, Donna L. Kline of Sharon and Donald L. Rumbaugh of Harrisville. Emily ‘s daughter in law Beverly Bonzer of North Carolina. She is survived by numerous grandchildren, step grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Emily was welcomed into heaven by her parents, the love of her life and husband Walt, her son Wallace “Wally” J. Bonzer who passed July 21, 2017, her step sons Ronald Rumbaugh who passed March 31, 2010 and William (Bill) Rumbaugh who passed December 9, 2013. Emily’s three sisters Joan Gray, Delores Caccamo, Mary Fragale and her brother Joseph Codispot have also passed.
Family will welcome friends at the Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home, 109 Emlenton Street Clintonville, on Sunday, January 5, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. till 3:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
A special thank you to Emily ‘s niece Sharon who went above and beyond to help her.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be sent to Advanced Care Center of Butler, 115 Techonoloy Drive, Butler PA 16001. Please note on the check “Activities Department”, Emily enjoyed all the different activities the center provided.
