Herb E. Gordon “Flash”, 73, of Reno passed away September 2, 2025 at Hamot Hospital in Erie.
Flash was born December 13, 1951 in Franklin PA. He was the son of the late Herbert Gordon and Evelyn (Latchaw) Gordon.
Flash graduated from Franklin High School. He was currently employed with BAC Haul Transport as a truck driver. He had previously been employed for Snyder’s of Berlin for many years and also drove truck for several local companies.
Flash proudly served in the United States Army from 1971 till his honorable discharge in 1974. He was stationed at Vicenza Italy, Oklahoma and South Carolina. He earned the rank of Sergeant. While in the Army he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Army Commendation Medal.
Flash enjoyed turkey, deer and bear hunting. He was active in IBO competitive target shooting. He was a member of the Coon and Fox and Rainbow Archery Club. He looked forward to taking his Harley for a ride and competing flat track motorcycle racing. Earlier in life he was a 4-H leader for the Outlaws. He participated in local rodeos in the steer wrestling competition. Most of all, he loved to be with his grandkids and going to their sporting events and activities. His dogs Bugsy and Harley where constant companions for him. Flash had a stock car he loved to race in Knox at the raceway.
Loved ones to cherish his memory are his daughters Melissa A. Winslow and her husband Troy of Franklin and Amanda Hess and her husband Eric of Oil City. His girlfriend, whom he treasured, Dana Ripple of Franklin. His grandchildren Koby, Kennedi and Kye Winslow of Franklin and Gracee and Maylee Hess of Oil City. His sister Linda Mack and her husband Dana of Utica, his nieces Lori Mack (Jim) and Shevelle Mack (Dave) and nephews Brandon Semian and Jeffrey Green also survive.
The Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home, Clintonville, is assisting the family with arrangements. A memorial service will take place at a later date.
