James Carlson, 79, of Kennerdell, formerly of Eau Claire, passed away Saturday at UPMC Seneca.
Born on June 16, 1935, in Eau Claire, he was the son of the late Clayton P. Carlson and Edna V. Zimmerman Carlson.
Jim graduated from Concord High School in 1954. He was honorably discharged from the Army Reserves in 1962.
Jim retired from PennDOT in 1990 after 31 years of employment. He was state construction inspector.
Jim was first married to Janet Carlson, who survives. He later married Debra J. Carlson on Oct. 1, 1991. She passed away on Feb. 5, 2007.
Jim was a past member of the Methodist Church in Eau Claire and a present member of the Church of God in Kennerdell.
He was a member of the Eagles in Franklin. He loved to watch the Steelers football games. Jim loved to be with his family and friends. Spending time outdoors working in his yard, going fishing and boating were some of his favorite things to do.
Surviving are his children, Brent J. Carlson of Kennerdell, Lori L. Carlson of Butler and Bruce L. Carlson of Karns City; his three grandchildren; his three stepgrandchildren; his numerous nieces and nephew; his great-great-grandson; his great-great-granddaughter; and his two stepchildren, Jody Renslow of Virginia Beach and Scott O'Brien of Ohio.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Duard L. Carlson, Donna L. Carlson, John W. Carlson and Joyce E. Carlson.
Carlson - The family of James Carlson, who passed away Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014, will receive friends from noon to time of services at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home, 109 Emlenton St., Clintonville, with the Pastor Bobbie Nelson of Kennerdell Church of God officiating. Interment will take place at the Eau Claire Cemetery.
