Psalm 56:13 “For you have delivered my soul from death, yes, my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of life.”
Margaret Maffet, 73 of Grove City, passed away December 26, 2023 at Quality Life Services in Mercer, PA. God provided deliverance from an earthly battle with dementia.
Margaret was born September 23, 1950 in Memphis, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late Richard and Emily (Evans) Grob. After high school, Margaret graduated from Covenant College and Columbia University with a master’s degree in nursing.
She treasured her family. Some of her favorite times were gatherings for Sunday dinners or holiday celebrations. “Omma”, as her grandchildren called her, passed down family traditions including recipes (Christmas tree cookies!) and advent devotionals. She delighted in gathering with her church family for worship and Bible studies. Her earthly family will miss her, but they are thankful for her pointing them to Jesus.
Margaret spent her life caring for others. She joyfully labored as a nurse to ease pain and suffering in her patients. Even after retirement, Margaret continued to encourage elderly friends with meals and visits. Her career and beyond provided many opportunities to serve the Lord by loving others.
An avid reader, Margaret also enjoyed cross stitching and both flower and vegetable gardening. With her alto voice she loved singing hymns, something that lasted well into her final days on earth. Praise God that she is now part of His heavenly choir walking in “the light of life”.
Loved ones to cherish her memory are her husband Wiliam McBride of Harrisville, her son Jonathan Maffet and his wife Sarah of Grove City, her daughter Jessica DeMoor and her husband Ken of Georgia, her stepchildren Faith Schleifer and her husband Mike, Charity Welton, William “Billy” McBride Jr., and Jason McBride and his wife Kathy, step daughter in law Bev McBride, her sister Nelle Brotbeck and her husband John Brotbeck, and her beloved grandchildren Abigail, Jacob, Lydia and Susanna Maffet.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents and step son Rick McBride.
