Nancy H. Brooks, 88, of Franklin passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter on April 15, 2025.
Nancy was born March 31, 1937 in Franklin and was the daughter of Guy and Zelia (Hunter) Harper. Nancy was a 1955 graduate of Rocky Grove High School.
Nancy was married on February 17, 1962 to Vernon E. “Sparky” Brooks. Mr. Brooks passed away on August 15, 2010.
Nancy worked at the Northwest Savings Bank as a teller. She also had worked for the American Cancer Society and Stanley Home Products as a Representative. Nancy loved to be with her family and looked forward to the family gatherings. She was a true animal lover as well. Nancy was active in her children’s and grandchildren’s lives by being in the swim team boosters, cub scout leader, girl scout leader and held multiple offices at 7th Street PTA.
Loved ones to cherish her memory are her children Valerie (Robert “Punk”) Peterson of Franklin, David (Darla) Brooks of Franklin, Dr. Alison (Daniel) Granados of Farmington Hills MI, and her step son William (Bette) Brooks of Church Hill TN., Her son in law Jon Layton of Kentucky and step daughter in law Linda Brooks of Oil City. Nancy is also survived by her grandchildren Scott (Tricia) Peterson, Jeremy (Heather) Peterson, Chris (Erika)Peterson, Benjamin (Marci)Peterson, David (Kaitlyn) Jr. Brooks, Kaitlyn (Clayton) Warrington, Carolina Granados, Sara Granados, Tara (Phil) Brown, Bryan (Carrissa) Marsh, Krista Harriger, Kelly (Roger) Hunter, Travis (Mayra) McGuire, William Brown, Matthew (Dawn) Brown, Jennifer Warrington and Colin Brooks. Her great grandchildren Brayden, Brooke, Julia, Jenna, Laken, Riley, Audrina, Asher, Addie, Dominic, Luca, Penelope, Parker, Hudson, Madalynn, Austin, Eva, Ariel, Dawn, Emma, Sawyer, Nolan, Logan, Vala, Allie, Amree, Andin, Dylan, Matthew, Jillian, Deliah and Abigail.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, her daughter Linda Layton, her step daughter Patti Brown, step son Gregory Brooks, step daughter in law Dawn Brooks, sister Gloria Groger, great great grandson Jayden Olsen and her best friends Richard and Freda Brown.
A private family service will take place. The Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home in Clintonville is assisting the family with arrangements. Burial will take place at Union Home Cemetery.
The family suggest memorial contributions in Nancy’s honor be sent to the Precious Paws in Franklin or Venango County Humane Society.
