Norm Smyth, 88, of Clintonville, passed away surrounded by his family, July 23, 2024 at the Butler Hospital.
Norm was born June 29, 1936 in Meadville to the late Reginald and Marjorie Smyth.
Norm was a proud Veteran, serving in the 11th Airborne Division from 1954 till his Honorable Discharge in 1957.
He married Gloria “Jean” Boozel on October 11, 1975, she survives
Norm was a member of the Grove City Lodge. He had previously worked for Atwell’s as a heavy equipment operator. Norm also worked as an over the road truck driver.
Norm enjoyed playing golf and chess. He also enjoyed working on cars and tractors with his dear friend Ray Bechtel. He was always up for a good conversation and always had a joke to tell. He attended many jam sessions at The Maples and still played his banjo late in life.
Loved ones to cherish his memory are his wife Jean of Clintonville, his children Mitchell Smyth and his wife Tammy, Kathy McBride and her husband Jason, Michael Smyth and his significant other Dawn Hanaway and Charles Smyth and his wife Christina. His grandchildren Krista Stewart and her husband Cody, Emily Smyth, Jackson Smyth, Kaici McBride, Jacob McBride and his wife Megan, Joshua McBride and his wife Emily, Kaden Hanaway, Brooke Hanaway, Braden Smyth, Landon Smyth, Rylan Smyth and Greylan Smyth. His great grandchildren Caroline, Grace and Noah.
Norm was proceeded in death by his parents and siblings Murial King (Hank), Alice Lakavage (Martin), Fred Smyth and Ed Smyth.
There are no services at this time. The Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home, Clintonville, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
