William M. Bell

 William M. Bell, 94, of Country Springs Assisted Living formerly of Emlenton passed away January 8, 2019 at the Clarion Hospital. 

Bill was born December 22, 1924 in Venango County, he was the son of Samuel L. Bell and Mary V. Miller Bell.

Bill married Lillian L. Eakin on October 4, 1946, she passed away November 27, 2004.  Together the couple had three sons. 

Bill was self-employed in the local area completing plaster work in many homes and businesses.  Bill was the Scrubgrass Township Supervisor for 18 years.  He enjoyed spending time in the woods and hunting.  Bill was a member of Black Powder Shoot Club.   Bill’s passion was with horses, he took great pride riding and training them.  He was active in the Ruff Riders 4-H club in Venango County for many years.  Bill judged numerous horse shows in the area.  He was the founder and president of the Western Pennsylvania Horseman Association.    Bill would light up when spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Bill was a member of the Parker Allegheny Canby Lodge 521.  Bill was a past president of the Clintonville Lions Club and was a member of Chapel on the Hill in Emlenton. 

Bill was a World War II Veteran, having served in the US Army.  Bill served with the 834th Antiaircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Battalion on Okinawa and in Korea. 

Loved ones left to cherish Bill's memory are his two sons Gerald Bell and his wife Joni Bell of Knox,  and Earl Bell and his wife Kathryn Bell of Concord Township, Ohio;  his daughter in law Ann Bell of Clintonville, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive. 

Preceded in death by his wife Lillian and son Ron Bell who passed away January 5, 2019, two sisters Ester Kelly and Helen Ekis and two brothers Donald & Dale Bell.

Family will receive friends at the Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home, 109 Emlenton Street, Clintonville on Friday, January 11, 2019 from 4-7pm.  Funeral services will take place at noon on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the funeral home with Rev. Chris Clark officiating. 

Burial will take place at Clintonville Methodist Cemetery.
