William E. "Bill" McLaughlin, 81, of Grove City formerly of Barkeyville passed away September 29, 2016 at Grove City Medical Center after an extended illness.

Bill was born January 1, 1935 in his home in Clinton Township, Venango County,  to John and Orpha Spencer McLaughlin.

Bill education took place at Walters Grade School and at Wesley High School. 

Bill married Barbara Yard on  January  21,1956  they celebrated 60 years of marriage last January. 

Bill was a truck driver all his life.  He started out his career at Tajon Trucking Inc in Mercer.  Bill spent the next 20 years at Adobe Mining in Grove City running the rock truck and heavy equipment and lastly was employed in Reno at Grief Brothers. 

After retirement Bill and Barb enjoyed traveling around the US especially to Nashville TN which was one of Bill favorite destinations.  Bill's hard work ethic continued long into retirement, in the summer you would see him on mower mowing grass and in the winter he would keep everyone cleaned up from the latest snow fall.  He and his family enjoyed watching the NASCAR and cheering on his favorite driver Dale Earnhardt.   Bill was a past member of the Franklin Moose Lodge #83 and at the Eagles Club in Grove City, where he liked to  catch up with this buddies and have a cold drink.   Bill's quick wit and smile will be missed by his family.    

Loved ones left to cherish Bill's memory is his wife Barb of Grove City, his children Richard McLaughlin and his wife Sandy of Harrisville, Glenn McLaughlin and his wife Amy of CA., Ellen Kerr and her husband Sam of Mercer, Diane Rice and her husband Richard of Union City  and Jerry Hovis and his wife Kitty of Florida.  His 6 grandchildren survive Laurie Deets and her husband Robert of Cambridge Springs, David McLaughlin and his wife Teresa of Harrisville, Misty Kerr of Mercer, Summer Green and her husband Corey of Grove City, Ashley McConnel of Stoneboro and Joshua Hovis of Florida.  6 great grand children Tessa and Colby Deets, Paige and Conar McLaughlin, Kane Kerr and Damian Hovis. 

Preceded in death by his three children Michael McLaughlin who passed away September 6, 1984, Patty McLaughlin on August 19, 1987 and Scott McLaughlin on January 27, 1990.  A brother Jim McLaughlin and a sister Vivian Mac Rae.

Family will receive friends at the Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home, 109 Emlenton Street, Clintonville on Saturday, October 1, 2016 from 3-6  Funeral service will take place at the funeral home with the Rev. Willard Morse officiating on Sunday October 2, 2016 at 11:30 am.

The family suggest memorial contributions be sent to Orchard Manor, 20 Orchard Manor Drive, Grove City PA 16127 in care of Activity Department 

Interment will take place at Old Log Cemetery
